Our Story
The concept of The Center was imagined by a small band of believers from a church called New Hope back in 2021. They were just a bunch of ordinary folks dreaming big towards the extraordinary, who deeply value community and were inspired to create a gathering place where people of all ages, backgrounds, cultures, and experiences could unite around shared interests. So they sold their building in Easton and began renovations at 49 Main Street, a 1930’s building that had sat vacant for over 5 years, fondly remembered by locals as the former home of Forman’s for many years.

The Center is a place for people to gather together. Where we can connect needs with resources, where the skills of the community meet those who want the opportunities to learn them. A place where people can connect and grow, are encouraged to stay awhile, experience love and belonging, and discover unlikely friendships along the way. The Center’s building will be home to the offices and activities of 3 small nonprofits who are all deeply invested in the community and making a difference downtown and in the city of Taunton: The Center on Main, Serve Home, and New Hope.
The Center is a charitable nonprofit (like the YMCA), not a religious nonprofit. Our goals are things like education, helping the underprivileged, and promoting the arts. This collective is a center for all, and we are looking forward to seeing folks coming together, thriving, growing, and flourishing!
